Ops Programmer for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Charlottetown.

In this role, you will take on a premier technical capacity within web development, API gateway management, and continuous delivery streams, specializing in advancing digital technologies to improve public service delivery.

As a principal Dev

Ops programmer, you will bridge the gap between software development, cloud infrastructure, and operational reliability.

Operating within a collaborative team environment, you will monitor, maintain, and optimize web-based middleware, enhance CI/CD automation pipelines, maintain Kubernetes cluster environments, and ensure high availability across multi-tier deployment architectures.

This position demands a seasoned technical expert who can integrate enterprise integration platforms, execute software upgrades, and streamline release engineering workflows.

Comprehensive Monitoring Suite: Optimize system observability using modern tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Solar

Responsibilities Monitor, configure, maintain, and optimize web-based middleware solutions to ensure the security, performance, and scalability of web API frameworks.

Assist with integrating API gateway frameworks with enterprise integration platforms (such as Mule

Soft).

Enhance and support CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins configurations, build automation, and automated test oversight.

Manage multi-tier deployment environments and coordinate software builds across concurrent development streams.

Provision, configure, and maintain containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes clusters.

Perform system patch management,



apply software upgrades, and evaluate emerging technologies for continuous improvement.

Implement, configure, and monitor platform health metrics using tools such as Solar

Winds, Grafana, and Prometheus.

Administer, troubleshoot, and optimize web servers (Apache), reverse proxies, and load balancers (Nginx).

Execute shell scripts (Bash), database queries, and automate routine system administration tasks across Linux/Ubuntu operating environments.

Support the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by diagnosing production issues, conducting performance testing, and participating in release stabilization.

Qualifications Core Requirements & Technical Capabilities Full SDLC & Programming Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development and administration utilizing Java, relational databases (MySQL), and Git version control.

Dev

Ops & Automation Pipeline Depth: 10+ years of experience with automation servers (such as Jenkins), Linux operating systems (Ubuntu), and Bash shell scripting. API Frameworks & Middleware: 10+ years of experience developing and supporting APIs, API Gateways, web middleware, and integration frameworks.

Web Infrastructure & Load Balancing: 10+ years of experience configuring and optimizing web servers (Apache), load balancers, and reverse proxies (Nginx).

Containerization & Orchestration: Proven hands-on experience provisioning, setting up, and maintaining Docker containers and Kubernetes clusters.

System Administration & Maintenance: Direct experience with software installation, configuration, patch management, system administration, and root-cause troubleshooting for web services.

Performance Testing: Demonstrated experience executing load testing, load balancing, automated testing, and performance tuning for web platforms.

Preferred Assets Public Sector Context:



Prior experience working with government organizations or public sector IT entities is considered a strong asset. CMS & Infrastructure Tooling: Experience with Drupal module development, DNS services, transport layer security (TLS/SSL), or black box testing frameworks.

Soft Skills & Professional Attributes Analytical Problem Solving: Superior diagnostic and technical troubleshooting capabilities to resolve complex web infrastructure issues.
