Assignment: RQ00743 - Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Intermediate Requisition: RQ00743 Job Title: Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Intermediate Client: City of Toronto Start Date: 2026-09-09 End Date: 2027-03-08 Department: Technology Services Office Location: Metro Hall, 55 John Street, Toronto Business Days: 130.00 Location: hybrid work model (3 days in office) Public Sector Experience: Preferred Must Haves: Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Certification in Software Quality Engineering or an equivalent credential is considered a strong asset.

Minimum of 4 years of experience performing testing for large-scale applications, including on-premise, web solutions, cloud-based integrations, and mobile platforms.

Strong experience in executing test cycles, analyzing results, and managing the full defect lifecycle using tools like Open

Text ALM, Open

Text Octane, JIRA, X-Ray, Confluence, etc.

Strong understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience working within Waterfall, Agile (Scrum), and Hybrid environments Strong Nice To Have: Previous experience in executing testing activities on specialized platforms including: AI-based solutions, Service

Now, Salesforce, SAP, or equivalent would be considered a strong asset.

Description Qualifications Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Certification in Software Quality Engineering or an equivalent credential is considered a robust asset.

Minimum of 4 years of experience performing testing for large-scale applications, including on-premise, web solutions, cloud-based integrations,



and mobile platforms.

Experience executing various testing activities and coordinating with other team members as required to ensure alignment and timely delivery.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical abilities in understanding business processes, information systems, web UI design and accessibility.

Hands-on experience with all types of testing: Functional, Integration, Regression, and User Acceptance Testing-across web-based, mobile, and cloud platforms.

Experience with API and AODA testing is considered an asset.

Technical Capabilities: Strong experience in executing test cycles, analyzing results, and managing the full defect lifecycle using tools like Open

Experience in utilizing automated testing using tools such as Micro Focus UFT, TOSCA, Selenium, etc., Strong understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience working within Waterfall, Agile (Scrum), and Hybrid environments Previous experience in executing testing activities on specialized platforms including: AI based solutions, Service

Now, Salesforce, SAP, or equivalent would be considered a strong asset.





Demonstrated capability in analyzing business requirements and user stories to design test scenarios, develop test cases and scripts, prepare test data, and assess results for quality assurance reporting.

Deliverables Key Deliverables Design and deliver detailed test cases, and test scripts aligned with business requirements and project objectives.

Execute testing activities and document results for various testing types (functional, regression, integration, system, performance, usability, and UAT) across multiple platforms and environments.

Maintain accurate records of test discrepancies and defects using designated QA tools and provide timely reports and recommendations to stakeholders.

On as needed basis, develop and implement automated testing frameworks and scripts using tools such as Micro Focus/Open

Text UFT, Selenium, Cucumber, and Serenity (BDD), etc.

Collaborate with project team, business analysts and developers to create and manage test data and scenarios that support robust validation of business processes.

Support the implementation of quality assurance processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing practices within Agile, Dev

Ops, and traditional environments Additional Terms The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist will be working under a hybrid work model ( 3 days in office, and 2 days at a remote location).

The office location will be Metro Hall 15th floor, 55 John Street in Toronto.

The successful candidate will be working seven (7) hours per day, five (5) days per week based on normal working Business Hours Anticipated Duration: 6 months Duration of Potential Extension: 6 months
