Transportation Operations & Business Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Transportation Operations & Business Development Manager to help run and grow our logistics and Hotshot Delivery operation in Calgary and also in Western Canada.

This is not a desk-only management position. We need someone who understands transportation from the ground up and can take responsibility for daily operations while helping grow the company.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily dispatching, scheduling, pickups, and deliveries
- Coordinate drivers, trucks, trailers, and customer requirements
- Supervise drivers and address attendance, performance, and operational issues
- Ensure driver safety, compliance, inspections, documentation, and company procedures are followed
- Handle urgent freight requests, last-minute changes, breakdowns, and service issues
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers
- Develop new business and pursue new transportation accounts
- Prepare or assist with freight quotes and customer pricing
- Improve fleet utilization, driver productivity, and operational efficiency
- Monitor service quality, on-time performance, and customer satisfaction
- Provide regular updates to ownership regarding operations, revenue, customers, drivers, and safety
- Assist with driving or deliveries when required due to driver shortages or urgent operational needs

Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone with strong experience in trucking, transportation, hotshot, freight, or logistics operations.

The ideal candidate will have:

- 5+ years of transportation, trucking, dispatch, or logistics experience
- Previous supervisory or operations management experience
- Strong dispatching and driver-management skills
- Knowledge of Alberta transportation safety and compliance requirements
- Experience dealing directly with customers and acquiring new accounts.
- Strong understanding of freight pricing and transportation costs




- Ability to handle high-pressure and time-sensitive situations
- Solid leadership and problem-solving skills
- Business development or transportation sales experience
- Experience with flatdeck, hotshot, expedited freight, construction, or oilfield transportation is an asset
- Valid driver's licence required
- Class 1 or Class 3 licence is a strong asset
- Must be willing to drive occasionally when operationally necessary

Compensation

Base Salary: $70,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Additional performance-based compensation may be available based on:

- New customer acquisition
- Revenue growth
- Gross profit performance
- Fleet utilization
- Customer retention
- Safety performance
- Overall operational results

Strong candidates with proven transportation management and business-development experience may qualify for higher total compensation.

Pay: $75,485.14-$85,612.86 per year
