About the Position: This is a regular part time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Associate Director, Student Success & Access Programs working 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $28.22 Please note that while permanent, this role is a less than 12 month position working September through May annually.

This position assists the CICE student to maximize his/her learning potential.

The incumbent advocates, intervenes and acts on behalf of the CICE student with faculty, other College students, and College-wide services.

The Learning Specialist is responsible for modification of course outlines, tests, and assignments in collaboration with the faculty.

The incumbent will be required to support students in various disciplines and programs, including in classes, shops, and labs.

This also includes programs in technology and trades where one-on-one support is required to work with safety tools.

Specific Accountabilities: Modifies course materials,



tests and assignments in collaboration with faculty Develops and recommends policies and procedures for administration of work unit Provides data to decision makers allowing them to determine best course of action Responds to needs of service users by coordinating all details of learning initiatives Provide supports and resources to students in diverse learning environments, including online, labs, shops, field placement, and in-person classrooms Other responsibilities as required Qualifications: Two year post-secondary diploma: preference will be given to those in Educational Assistance, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth & Social Service Worker 3 years of experience with persons with developmental disabilities, persons with significant learning challenges and experience in the teaching/tutoring environment Mental health training is an asset Possess advocacy skills and a willingness to participate in marketing events Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, and patience Computer fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams) Excellent organizational and creative problem solving skills An effective team player
