Position Summary The Treasury Analyst plays a key role in managing the day-to-day cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk for Sorbara Group of Companies. This position supports the organization’s residential and commercial real estate development operations by ensuring liquidity is optimized, funding requirements are met, and financial reporting is accurate and timely. The role works closely with Accounting, Development, and Senior Leadership to provide visibility into cash positions and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Flow & Liquidity Management
- Monitor and manage daily cash positions across all entities and projects
- Prepare short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts for operating and development activities
- Ensure sufficient liquidity is available to meet operational and project funding needs
- Coordinate intercompany transfers and optimize cash utilization across the organization
Banking & Financing
- Maintain relationships with financial institutions, lenders, and banking partners
- Assist in the administration of construction loans, development financing, and credit facilities
- Track loan balances, interest calculations, and compliance with lending covenants
- Support draw requests, funding schedules, and reporting required by lenders
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly treasury reports for senior management, including cash position summaries and forecast updates
- Analyze variances between forecasted and actual cash flow
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve cash management and financial efficiency
- Support enhanced reporting initiatives using Newstar and other internal systems
Risk Management & Controls
- Identify and manage financial risks, including liquidity, interest rate exposure, and banking risk
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Support audit processes by providing required treasury documentation and reconciliations
Process Improvement & Systems
- Assist in streamlining treasury processes and improving efficiency across departments
- Work with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure accurate integration of financial data
- Help maximize the use of Newstar and other financial tools for reporting and forecasting
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Development teams to align cash flow planning
- Act as a key point of contact for treasury-related inquiries across the organization
- Provide support and insights to senior leadership, including visibility into cash and funding status
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in treasury, finance, or accounting (real estate or development experience considered an asset)
- Strong understanding of cash flow management, banking, and financial reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems (Newstar experience is an asset)
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
