About the job
Applying your technical expertise, negotiation skills and your knowledge of contract practices, you will:
monitor contractors' delivery of construction and maintenance operations while ensuring necessary work records are maintained
ensure compliance with contract requirements, review of extra work, contract drawings and documents and claims
liaise with contractors, property owners, internal staff, and the general public to address issues and complaints
provide technical advice and training to staff
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
These positions require the successful candidates to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
Technical expertise:
proven experience and knowledge of constructions and/or maintenance practices including inspection, material sampling, testing, and road patrolling duties
knowledge of highway, construction standards and specifications and maintenance
ability to interpret contract drawings and documents
ability to interpret and apply knowledge of related policies, acts, regulations and procedures for safety, and environmental protection
Essential Skills
Well-developed oral and interpersonal skills to deal with contractors, colleagues and the general public.
Positive mathematical skills to conduct payment calculations and assessments, and conduct field surveys.
Proven analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to assist with the assessment of construction-related issues
Good written skills to maintain accurate records such as inspector diaries.
Well-developed organizational and planning skills to carry out contract related activities.
Good working knowledge of computers to perform clerical and administrative work such as correspondence, instruction notices, payment calculations, payment reports, contract payment assessment, and applicable reports and forms.
