What you will be doing: As a Mechanical Automotive Application Engineer you will lead interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center, primarily responsible for managing system interactions and interfaces between components and subsystems of the Driveline System. Design Systems / Applications Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer for multiple programs.
Responsibilities include: Driveline System hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing of all EDM gearbox components)
Interfacing with individual Design Release Engineers and COEs, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Development Validation Center.
Schedules system design reviews as required
Organize reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensures Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed prior to any prototype hardware orders
Manage Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM (team) reviews to ensure complete transparency and development of cohesive Design Controls leading to Robust DVP Actions
Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists, LL, and Es are updated and aligned.
Leads Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) effort and alignment working closely with PRC, DVC and VO teams.
Represents CE in managing the "lessons learned" document for the program and ensure that TS (Technical Specialist) receive those updates on a timely manner to update the EBPs accordingly
Reviews driveline system and applicable component "Validation Completion" status with DVC team periodically & provides update to CE.
Coordinates DRBTR review and keeper of "follow up items" and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems.
What you'll need to be successful: Basic: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering Degree. MS preferred.
1-3 years of previous experience as an Automotive Mechanical Engineer with driveline, front wheel drive, gears, bearings, shafts, or powertrain experience.
CAD experience to review drawings.
Must be able to travel to Mexico (10%).
Must be able to work in office 5 days per week, with the ability to work in MI 2 times per month
