DSEL is seeking a proactive, organized, and self-motivated Utility Project Coordinator to join our Utility team. In this role, you will coordinate utility-related activities throughout the project life cycle, ensuring communication with client and client stakeholders is actively maintained, potential utility conflicts are identified and resolved, and projects are fully prepared for construction.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in project or construction coordination who can interpret technical drawings, manage multiple priorities, and build strong relationships with clients, contractors, utility companies, municipalities, and project stakeholders. Position: Utility Project Coordinator

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (36 hours per week), Remote

Reporting to: Utility Managers

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain project schedules, highlighting critical design, submission, and construction activity dates.
2. Coordinate with and support DSEL Utility Team designers, monitoring both utility design progression (e.g., electric, gas, telecommunication) and municipal design progression (e.g. roadway, water, sanitary, storm water) and updating project schedules as required.
3. Support in the development of a Composite Utility Plan (CUP) of utility and municipal designs, review CUP to identify potential infrastructure conflicts,



and lead conflict resolution by way of coordinating relocations.
4. Assist the DSEL Project Administration Team in acquiring all utility-related approvals required for the municipality.
5. Administer utility construction contracts throughout the project lifecycle, including: preparing tender documents and schedules of contract units rates (i.e. detailed material estimates), tendering construction works to qualified bidders, evaluating received bid submissions and making recommendation for award of construction works, preparing and executing contract documents, administering the contract by completing and or leading activities such as scheduling and hosting project meetings/site visits, processing contractor payment certificates, and assisting with issue resolution during construction.
6. Liaise with clients, other engineering firms, local distribution companies, municipalities, telecommunication companies, gas companies, contractors, home builders, and any other entity as required.
7. Support the DSEL Contract Administration Team with the development of project as-built or record documents, including, however not limited to: project site inspection and recording/measuring of as-built conditions; development of deficiency lists of matters requiring remediation; design drawing and other project documentation updates; and acquiring contractor sign-off as applicable.

Travel to project sites as required. Must have transportation.

Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in relevant management and/or coordination work.
- Strong communication skills, including undeterred willingness to make several phone calls daily to project stakeholders and ability to draft concise emails.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Electrical and utility design and coordination experience is considered an asset.
- Engineering Technologist Diploma is considered an asset.
- Must work well in a team and individually.
- Basic AutoCAD skills for counting items and measuring lengths only.
- Previous experience with Utility Companies and/or Developers is an asset.
- Problem solving & ability to work well under pressure.
- Must have a vehicle for transportation – driving to site and offices is required.
