**Job Title: Solderer Assembler**
**Job Description**
The Solderer Assembler builds and tests electronic products by assembling thru-hole, SMT, mixed-technology, and mechanical assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications, IPC standards, and detailed assembly documentation.
This role performs precise hand soldering and rework, operates and maintains assembly and test equipment, and ensures products meet quality and performance requirements before packaging and shipment.
The position suits someone who enjoys repetitive, detail-oriented work, can follow diagrams and instructions on a computer, and thrives in a quick-paced production environment.
**Responsibilities**
Assemble electronic components, including complex and high-density projects, following assembly books, custom specifications, and established quality standards.
Perform precise hand soldering and rework on thru-hole, SMT, mixed-technology, and mechanical assemblies in line with engineering specifications and IPC standards.
Prepare, place, and install electronic and mechanical components accurately, ensuring correct orientation and placement.
Use a computer to access assigned assemblies, diagrams, and work instructions, and follow on-screen documentation to complete daily tasks.
Follow detailed diagrams and assembly documentation to build products consistently and accurately in a repetitive, detail-oriented setting.
Perform SMT, thru-hole, or mixed-technology assembly, including soldering, inspection, rework, and mechanical assembly tasks.
Rework mechanical and electrical assemblies by replacing components and correcting defects identified during inspection or testing.
Operate and maintain various assembly and testing equipment safely and effectively.
Set up, calibrate, and maintain test stations to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Conduct functional testing of products using tools such as multimeters and PC-based programming systems.
Complete test logs, record yields, and report results accurately to support quality and production tracking.
Finalize assemblies by performing any required finishing steps and prepare products for packing and shipping.
Support team-level quality initiatives, including participating in root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues.
Communicate effectively with team members to resolve problems, prevent recurring issues, and maintain a positive team environment.
Handle inventory-related tasks as required, including organizing and tracking components and materials.
Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow all safety and ESD (electrostatic discharge) precautions as applicable.
Participate in training and certification programs to keep soldering and assembly skills current and aligned with standards.
Meet production deadlines and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Lift components or equipment up to 40 lbs on a non-repetitive basis as needed.
Accurately distinguish and work with different colours when identifying components, wiring, or documentation markings.
**Essential Skills**
6 months to 1 year of hands-on hand soldering experience in an electronic assembly environment.
Demonstrated ability to solder thru-hole and SMT components to a consistent quality standard.
Experience with SMT, thru-hole, or mixed-technology electronic assembly, including inspection and rework.
Proficiency using hand tools such as screwdrivers and torque tools for mechanical assembly tasks.
Ability to rework mechanical and electrical assemblies, including replacing components and correcting assembly issues.
Strong comprehension of assembly documentation, including diagrams, work instructions, and engineering specifications.
Good English communication skills, with the ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
Solid computer skills,
including the ability to navigate and use PC-based systems to access work orders, diagrams, and test programs.
Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy and quality.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a non-repetitive basis.
Ability to distinguish different colours accurately for component identification and wiring.
Comfort using basic electrical test tools such as multimeters and PC-based programming tools.
Willingness to sit and work at a station for extended periods while performing repetitive, detail-oriented tasks.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Familiarity with SMT (Surface Mount Technology) processes and equipment.
Interest in learning more advanced assembly processes such as soldering, SMT, and CNC laser operations.
Flexibility and openness to cross-training across departments to support production needs.
Demonstrated desire to learn and continuously improve technical skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a positive, cooperative atmosphere.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to repetitive tasks.
Comfort working around production equipment, including exposure to dust, solder, metals, noise, and moving machinery.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in a large, organized, and clean production facility with multiple departments on the manufacturing floor.
The environment is generally quiet and structured, though noise levels can increase during busy periods and are often higher in the morning and quieter in the afternoon.
Employees may occasionally be exposed to dust, solder, metals, higher noise levels from operating machinery, and physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, and are expected to follow all safety procedures.
The culture emphasizes focused, head-down teamwork, a positive attitude, and mutual respect, with a strong mix of women and men working collaboratively across teams.
Cross-training opportunities support skill development and flexibility within the facility.
You will be part of a team of approximately 50 people.
The standard shift runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime available when production is busy.
Work is primarily performed seated at an individual station using a computer to access diagrams, instructions, and test programs, and involves repetitive, detail-oriented tasks.
The dress code includes wearing a provided smock, shoe covers, ear plugs, and goggles as required, along with closed-toe shoes for safety.

This is a Contract position based out of Burnaby, BC.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $24.00/hr.
