Qualifications: A Bachelor of Nursing Degree and current Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses is required. Courses related to adult or vocational education is an asset, and knowledge of adult learning principles is required.
Knowledge of program development and evaluation is also required. Five years of acute care experience with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based standards of care for acute medical and surgical patients is required. Clinical proficiency with nursing skills applicable to the medical and surgical units as well as expertise with equipment commonly used in the medical and surgical areas is also required. Experience in facilitating adult learning is an asset. Completion of, or willingness to complete, courses in cardiac care, stroke modules 1 and 2, and general surgery related topics is required.
This position requires demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications, teaching, and presentation skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to mentor, educate, coach and motivate staff in an individual or team setting. Candidates must be self-directed and able to work independently or collaboratively in a team workplace. Research skills and the ability to incorporate research and evidence-based practice are required. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning. Proficient computer skills are required. A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is a requirement for this position.
