Company Description Black Donors Save Lives (BDSL) is a federal nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing racial disparities in blood, stem cell, organ, and tissue donor pools that impact patients from African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities. The organization focuses on increasing awareness, education, and participation in donation within historically underserved communities. BDSL collaborates with healthcare partners, community organizations, and advocates to build trust and improve access to lifesaving donor resources.

Team members contribute to mission-driven work that directly supports patients and families facing critical health challenges. The organization values cultural competence, community engagement, and equity in healthcare outcomes.

Role Description The Coordinator of Volunteers is a part-time, remote role responsible for organizing, supporting, and growing BDSL’s volunteer network. This position coordinates volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling for outreach events, educational sessions, and online campaigns. The coordinator provides volunteers with training materials, guidance, and ongoing support to ensure they have the tools needed to represent BDSL effectively.

Daily tasks include maintaining volunteer records, responding to volunteer inquiries,



and collaborating with team members to match volunteers with appropriate roles. The coordinator also assists with community outreach activities, helps track volunteer impact, and contributes to improving volunteer engagement strategies in line with BDSL’s mission.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess skills in Volunteer Management and Volunteer Training to effectively recruit, onboard, and support volunteers.

Candidates should possess strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills to build relationships with volunteers, partners, and community members.

Candidates should possess Community Outreach experience to support awareness initiatives and engagement within ACB communities.

Experience coordinating volunteers or programs in a nonprofit, healthcare, or community-based setting is beneficial.

Ability to work independently in a remote workplace, manage multiple tasks, and use standard digital tools (email, spreadsheets, video conferencing).

Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly related to African, Caribbean, and Black communities, is an asset.

Relevant education or training in social sciences, public health, community development, or a related field is preferred but not required.
