This senior role requires a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) and at least 10 years of legal experience. You will ensure compliance with the First Nations Fiscal Management Act while supporting Board governance and operational effectiveness. Your expertise in corporate governance and Indigenous affairs will be crucial in guiding the organization towards its financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as Corporate General Counsel in line with Board policy
• Provide strategic legal advice addressing compliance and risks
• Draft, review,
and negotiate contracts and policies
• Oversee external legal counsel and service providers
• Support Board meetings and onboarding of Directors
Requirements:
• LLB or JD with provincial Law Society membership
• 10+ years legal experience in regulatory or law firms
• Solid background in corporate governance
• Knowledge of Indigenous laws and policies
• Excellent communication skills in English
