Senior Middleware Specialist
Pay Rate: Flexible- Hybrid
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Contract Length: 12 Months
Responsibilities
Support and optimize BizTalk Server integrations across SAP, SuccessFactors, Maximo, CAD/AVL, and other TTC systems.
Migrate legacy BizTalk workflows to Azure Integration Services and Azure Logic Apps.
Monitor integration health, performance, message tracking, error handling, and retry logic.
Work with TTC teams, business owners, and vendors to resolve cross-system integration issues.
Design, secure, and deploy middleware solutions for on-premises and cloud systems.
Perform defect triage, root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and SIT/UAT support.
Maintain functional, non-functional, technical, mapping, and support documentation.
Skills and Certifications
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
10+ years of enterprise systems integration experience using .NET, C#, Web API, XML, XSLT, JSON, SQL Server, T-SQL, and stored procedures.
Robust BizTalk Server 2020 experience, including orchestrations, pipelines, maps, XSLT, schemas, adapters, and migration to cloud integration platforms.
Experience with WCF-Custom, WCF-SAP/SAP .NET Connector, WCF-WebHttp, SFTP, REST, BAPIs, IDocs, APIs, and enterprise integration patterns.
Minimum 4 years of hands-on Azure Logic Apps experience; Microsoft Azure Developer certification preferred.
Experience with Azure Functions, Service Bus, API Management, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
Proficiency with Git (branching strategies, PR reviews) and building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of OAuth2, certificates, Azure Key Vault,
Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, and role-based access control.
Assignment Duties
The role requires hands-on design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and collaboration with TTC technical, security, data, infrastructure, QA, and architecture teams.
Core Technical Responsibilities
BizTalk Support: Maintain and troubleshoot pipelines, orchestrations, schemas, maps, and adapters.
Azure Logic Apps: Build, test, deploy, and support Logic Apps Standard and Consumption workflows.
Data Transformation: Develop XML, JSON, XSLT, and Liquid template transformations.
Adapters & Connectivity: Configure WCF-SAP, WCF-Custom, SFTP, REST, APIM, gateways, and hybrid connections.
Custom Development: Develop and modernize C#, .NET, SQL Server, and supporting integration components.
Testing & Defect Resolution: Support SIT, UAT, performance testing, root-cause analysis, and defect resolution.
DevOps: Maintain Git branching, pull requests, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
Cross-Functional Responsibilities
Support QA, performance testing, NFR validation, cutovers, and hypercare.
Coach TTC developers and contribute reusable templates and integration standards.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture on patterns, reviews, and approvals.
Follow TTC change, release, security, and ServiceNow governance processes.
Provide progress updates to project and functional managers.
Other Requirements
Comply with TTC and OHSA health and safety policies.
Travel occasionally between TTC locations for operational or support activities.
Deliverables
Automation & Infrastructure: Approved CI/CD pipelines, Bicep templates, and YAML configuration files.
NFR Evidence: Signed-off resiliency, performance, monitoring, alerting, error handling, and retry logic evidence.
Technical Documentation: Approved designs, interface inventories, mappings, schemas, and error-handling specifications.
Codebase: Deployed, tested, and documented Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and supporting components.
Testing Evidence: SIT, UAT, performance, security, defect-resolution, and sign-off records.
Governance Evidence: Release, change orders, approvals, and production readiness evidence.
Deployment & Transition: Cutover, rollback, hypercare, and knowledge-transfer materials.
