MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager for a permanent role with a client of ours located in Vancouver.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the execution and delivery of key projects, ensuring your team produces high-quality, scalable, and robust software solutions

Balance your time between managing people, driving technical excellence, and making direct contributions to the codebase

Passionate about building strong teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, and is comfortable navigating the challenges of a fast-paced startup environment

Requirements

8+ years of professional experience.

3+ years of proven success leading engineering teams of 4–8 members.

Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale technical initiatives and take ownership of key product or platform components.

Advanced proficiency with Java (version 17 or higher), Spring, and building applications using microservices architecture.

Strong working knowledge of both relational databases (Postgres) and NoSQL solutions (MongoDB).

Practical experience with messaging and event-driven systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka).

Solid background in cloud environments (AWS), along with containerization (Docker) and orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes).

Skilled communicator with the ability to partner effectively with product leaders, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.

Passionate about leadership, with a focus on mentoring, career development, and team growth.
