**Job Title: General Laborer**
**Job Description**
This role supports a large custom casting manufacturer that specializes in architectural casting products, with a strong focus on ceiling components.
As a General Laborer, you work in a hands-on production environment, using hand and power tools to assist with mold making, cementing, fiberglass work, and general casting activities.
You contribute directly to the manufacturing process by preparing materials, handling products, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace in a busy, dynamic setting.
**Responsibilities**
Perform general casting duties in the production area, including supporting mold making, cementing, and fiberglass departments as needed.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete daily tasks related to construction-style manufacturing and renovation-type work.
Lift, move, and handle materials and products weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
Read and follow basic instructions and blueprints to ensure products meet required specifications and quality standards.
Work efficiently in a dusty manufacturing workplace and around fiberglass materials while adhering to all safety and PPE requirements.
Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear, protective coveralls, safety glasses, and respirators or N95 masks when necessary.
Support painting and finishing tasks as required to complete architectural casting products.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines on the day shift.
Participate in overtime opportunities when available, including Saturdays or extended end-of-shift work, in accordance with company policies.
**Essential Skills**
Experience using
**hand and power tools**
in a construction, manufacturing, or renovation environment.
Previous experience working in a dusty environment and comfort working in such conditions.
Experience working around
**fiberglass materials**
and willingness to handle fiberglass regularly.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly during the shift.
Driven to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding production environment.
Basic ability to understand and follow blueprints or similar instructions.
Comfort wearing and properly using a respirator or N95 mask when required.
Willingness to adhere to all safety policies, including consistent use of PPE and compliance with workplace procedures.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Painting experience, particularly in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Experience in a construction, manufacturing, or renovation environment.
Comfort working in close proximity to strong odors, especially in fiberglass departments.
Willingness to work overtime when available, including Saturdays or extended shifts.
Interest in long-term growth and advancement within a manufacturing environment.

**Work Environment**
The facility employs approximately 30 people and provides large, well-lit workspaces designed for manufacturing architectural casting products.
The environment is very dusty and includes a fiberglass department that can have a strong smell, so comfort in such conditions is essential.
The workplace is a friendly, family-style atmosphere with regular social events such as BBQs, company gatherings, and Christmas parties.
The schedule includes one unpaid 30-minute meal break and one paid 15-minute break, with employees typically leaving 15 minutes early instead of taking a second 15-minute break.
Overtime commonly arises on Saturdays or at the end of shifts and is voluntary, with additional pay provided after 40 hours.
The facility offers a large lunchroom equipped with microwaves, and work areas are spacious and well organized.
Personal protective equipment is mandatory, including steel-toe footwear that covers the ankle, protective coveralls worn over personal clothing, and safety glasses provided on site.
Once permanent, employees receive overalls and can join a laundry service.
In mold making, cementing, and fiberglass departments, a respirator or N95 mask is required to ensure safety.
The dress code centers on practical, safety-focused attire suitable for a dusty, hands-on industrial environment.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mississauga, ON L5E 1E9.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
