JOB PURPOSE

Provide leadership and assume the responsibility, authority, and accountability for nursing practice and delivery of patient centered care to patients and families in the Emergency Department. This is a clinical management role that collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care through plannnig, organizing and coordinating human, financial and material resources. The Nurse Manager is responsible to ensure that patient care meets standards of practice and systems/processes of care are contunually improving.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Active registration with College of Nurses New Brunswick (CNNB)
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree
- Current BCLS certification and yearly recertification
- Current ACLS certification
- CNA certification in Emergency Nursing is an asset
- Minimum of 5 years progressive nursing experience with recent emergency nursing &/or critical care experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership/management role
- Demonstrated assessment skills in caring for patients requiring Emergency care
- Demonstrated effective teaching, interpersonal and team building skills
- Demonstrated high level of maturity, good judgement and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated adherence to relevant legislation including the Personal Health Information Privacy and Access Act to ensure all patient, buisness, financial and employee information is accessed on a need-to-know basis
- Patient safety is a critical aspect of quality healthcare. Successful candidates must be accountable for creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating effectively, and responding to adverse events
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a variety of health care providers, including nurse, physicians, managers, and staff from other disciplines
- Valuable work record and ability to attend work on a regular basis
- Ability to perform the duties of the position
