**Job Title: Production Operator**
**Job Description**
This role involves operating automated and extrusion machinery to manufacture fiberglass and plastic pipe for the oil and gas industry.
You will be fully trained to set up, run, monitor, and shut down production equipment, handle raw materials, and ensure product quality while working safely in a rotating 12-hour shift environment.
**Responsibilities**
Participate in daily toolbox meetings focused on safety and planned work activities.
Set up, run, and shut down manufacturing and automated extrusion equipment according to established procedures.
Load and set up fiberglass rolls and other raw materials on production machines.
Monitor production machinery and product quality, making appropriate adjustments as needed.
Record manufacturing data accurately using computer-based databases and reporting systems.
Verify raw materials prior to use and throughout the manufacturing process to ensure specifications are met.
Operate forklifts, manufacturing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
Perform repetitive tasks and safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs (typically 30–40 lbs) to and from machines.
Stand for extended periods while working on the production floor.
Perform operator-level preventative maintenance on production equipment.
Follow 5S rules and housekeeping standards to meet performance goals and maintain an organized work area.
Conduct all work in accordance with established safety programs, procedures, and policies.
Support, mentor, and collaborate with other operators to ensure smooth production operations.
Understand and follow procedures, processes, equipment operation, and product requirements.
Accept guidance, leadership, and supervision in order to achieve company goals.
Promote a positive, team-oriented atmosphere within the production facility.
Maintain a clean and orderly workplace, promptly addressing any safety or cleanliness issues.
Report any problems or irregularities encountered during production to the Lead Operator or appropriate personnel.
**Essential Skills**
Ability to safely lift and move materials up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night) on a consistent schedule.
Comfort with standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks in a production environment.
Basic computer skills to enter and record manufacturing data in databases and reporting systems.
Ability to follow detailed safety procedures, production processes, and work instructions.
Strong attention to detail for monitoring product quality and verifying raw materials.
Reliability and willingness to work overtime when additional shifts are required.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and accept direction from supervisors and lead operators.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience using hand tools such as screwdrivers and similar tools.
Experience with power tools, including drills, reciprocating saws, and other common construction tools.
Experience with measurement equipment such as tape measures and calipers.
Previous forklift operating experience.
Experience using a power pallet jack.
Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement practices.
Prior experience in production, manufacturing, construction, or other hands-on industrial environments.

**Work Environment**
The production facility currently employs about 60 people, with approximately 25–30 team members per shift.
The plant manufactures pipe with a 4" diameter using automated and extrusion equipment to process fiberglass and plastic materials.
Work is performed on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for day shifts in some weeks, and Monday to Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. for night shifts in alternating weeks.
Overtime may be required by picking up additional shifts when production demands increase.
The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, supported by 5S practices and clear procedures.
You will work on the production floor, operating machinery, forklifts, hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipment.
Required attire includes steel toe boots, with ear plugs and safety glasses provided.
The facility prioritizes safety and efficiency, offering a structured, team-focused atmosphere where clear communication and adherence to safety programs are essential.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
