Job Position: Youth Inclusion Facilitator

Program Overview: Teen Community Connection (TCC) is an afterschool and spring / summer camp program focused on developing social skills and independence for youth with diverse abilities. This is done through connecting with community partners, encouraging positive interactions with other teens and staff, and teaching wellness practices. Activities are intentional, educational, and fun for everyone!

Shifts

· During the school year*, shifts occur between 1:15-5:15 pm Monday to Friday. Shifts are a minimum of 2.5 hours

· We ask that applicants be available for at least two shifts weekly.

· *Opportunities may be available for after-school staff to work in Spring break and Summer camp programs. Camp shifts are up to 8 hours.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate the leisure/recreation needs of the teen and the assistance required for each teen to integration participate in the after-school program activities.
2.



Assist participants with the continued development of social and life skills and fulfillment of personal and community goals.
3. Provide safe and appropriate assistance to the youth during the program.
4. Supply transportation for participants from school and to planned activities using program and/or personal vehicles (where required).
5. Encourage into the community and interaction between other peer groups.
6. Assist with personal care needs as required.
7. Perform duties in accordance with the approved policies and procedures of the agency.
8. Report all critical incidences to the supervisor and submit monthly records/expenditures in a timely matter.
9. Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications: 1. Education, Training and Experience:

· Certificate in community support work, early childhood education, educational assistance, or related field, and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

· Class 5 or 4 driver’s license.

· Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR C certification.

2. Skills and Abilities:

· Commitment to inclusion and equitable practices.

· Knowledge and experience working with children, youth, teens and/or adults with physical or cognitive disabilities.

· Experience within a position holding a high degree of responsibility and independence.

· Exceptional communication skills.

· Good organizational skills and self-reliance.

· Ability to work independently, within a group, and under pressure.

· Ability to adapt to changes and willing to be active in a variety of settings.

· Knowledge of community resources is an asset.

· Ability to de-escalate situations using empathy and compassion.
