: Youth Worker (High-Risk Vulnerable Youth, Ages 8yrs-13yrs)
Position: Youth Worker
Pay Rate: $27.50/hr
Hours: 35 hrs/week, full-time employment
Perks: Cost-shared
Schedule: Versatile (Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends as required)
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team, focused on supporting high-risk vulnerable youth aged 8-13 years old. This role requires a proactive individual who can provide mentorship, guidance, and support to help these young individuals navigate their challenges and integrate back into the school system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentorship and Support:
- Establish trusting relationships with youth through consistent and meaningful engagement.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to help youth develop positive coping strategies and build self-esteem.
- Individualized Support Plans:
- Collaborate with each youth to co-develop personalized support plans tailored to their specific needs and goals.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure continued development and success.
- Program Implementation:
- Deliver programs and activities that promote social skills, resilience, and overall well-being.
- Encourage youth participation in extracurricular activities to foster a sense of community and belonging.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of the youth.
- Connect youth and families with appropriate resources and services for ongoing support.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, progress, and any incidents.
- Prepare regular reports on the youth’s development and program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children and youth, particularly those considered high-risk or vulnerable.
- Diploma in a social service field (e.g., Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology) or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with young people and build rapport.
- Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and strategies for engaging at-risk youth.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- A valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
- Business Insurance for Vehicle is required.
- Current First Aid or willingness to obtain
