The Woodstock Police Service is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Janitor .
The Woodstock Police Service is a municipal policing agency made up of approximately 100 police officers and 50 civilian employees who are dedicated to serving the City of Woodstock, Ontario.

About the Position
The Janitor is responsible for providing cleaning and general support services for Woodstock Police Service facilities and its vehicle fleet.
We are seeking a high-energy, self-motivated individual with previous janitorial experience in a busy, quick-paced work environment. The successful applicant must be able to work independently, organize competing responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
Complete janitorial tasks that include vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning washrooms,
garbage and recycling disposal, etc.
- Clean, disinfect and sanitize high-risk environments such as prisoner cells and
cruisers.
- Provide manual labour for set-up and clean-up duties and shipping and receiving of
various deliveries.
- Compliance with WHMIS and OHSA regulations.
- Complete daily inspections of washroom facilities
- Preform selected backfill duties for absences of Maintenance Technician.
Working Conditions
Duties are performed in areas that may expose the Janitor to: temperature
extremes and inclement weather, dirty and/or unsanitary environments such as
holding cells and garages, loud noise, lead exposure, strong odours and fumes and
potential exposure to infectious diseases when working in custody areas.
Physical Demands
Assignments will include activities such as sitting, standing, walking, climbing, lifting
objects greater than 30lbs, twisting, driving, reading and writing.
Qualifications
- Minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s License.
- Minimum one (1) year previous experience in facility operations, requiring
cleanliness techniques.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Availability to work primarily during evenings and weekends.
- Physical stamina and dexterity.
- Experience with basic computer software programs such as Word and Outlook.
Wages and Benefits
The part-time position may include scheduling up to a maximum of 28 hours/week
Pay in lieu of benefits and vacation
Enrollment into a well-established pension plan
Provided with issued uniform and safety equipment
The rate of pay will be in keeping with the current Civilian Collective Agreement, ranging
from $28.47 hourly (probationary) to $31.97 hourly .
