For over 100 years, 4-H Saskatchewan has been encouraging individual growth in young people by developing self-confidence, the ability to make wise decisions, and a responsible attitude toward community service.
1. H Saskatchewan provides positive youth development programs and experiences for young people across the province. Through our motto “Learn to Do by Doing”, 4-H members develop skills that drive their creativity, increase their knowledge, and help them contribute to their communities. Being part of a 4-H club connects members to a network of friendship, leadership and support within about 155 clubs, coordinated by over 800 volunteer leaders.
Position Scope
1. H Saskatchewan is looking for a new Executive Director (ED), to be based in our Saskatoon office. Reporting to a volunteer Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for the following areas:
Operations management and administration
Financial and human resources management
Program and service delivery
Board administration and support
Public relations, member engagement, and communications
The Executive Director leads the provincial operations of 4-H Saskatchewan, in accordance with the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the organization. The ED is responsible for ensuring the 4-H program continues to be relevant, impactful, and expands in both rural and urban sectors of the province.
Evaluating policies and procedures for continuous improvement is important in this role. The ED is responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are up to date, easy to understand and uphold, and accessible to the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and members.
The Candidate
The Board of Directors is seeking an accomplished and people-centered Executive Director who can inspire a high-performing team,
build strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensure the organization continues to make a positive impact in the lives of our members.
The Board is looking for a leader who is both strategic and operational: someone who can see the big picture while ensuring excellence in day-to-day execution. The successful candidate will have experience leading teams, managing budgets responsibly, and achieving organizational goals.
They will be comfortable making decisions, collaboratively solving complex challenges, and working with diverse groups of volunteers, and proactively and professionally addressing conflicts.
Education and Experience
Post-secondary degree in education, business, agriculture, or another related field is required
Three to five years in leadership or management roles, with experience managing finances, people, and volunteers
Experience working with boards of directors, stakeholders, and governments
Experience leading and/or developing impactful programs and/or services
Experience in areas such as 4-H, agriculture, education, community development, and leadership
A strong ability to communicate, build relationships, and work as part of a team are key assets for this position
We recognize that valuable skills and knowledge can be gained through a variety of pathways. A combination of relevant education, qualified experience, volunteer leadership, and lived experience will be considered. The successful candidate will hold a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and provide a clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check
What We Offer
Annual salary range of $95,000 - $115,000, plus benefits
4 weeks of paid vacation
Ability to work from a home office one day per week
