Job Title:Tax AnalystReports To:Manager, TaxDepartment:Penguin Investments Inc., Corporate TaxPosition SummaryIf you are contemplating a career in tax or are seeking a progressive tax role, the Tax Analyst position is a great chance to learn and work in a dynamic business environment. As a member of the Corporate Tax team, the Tax Analyst will contribute to the overall success of tax planning and compliance for the Penguin Group of Companies. A key aspect of the role is about gaining a thorough understanding of the businesses and applying analytical skills. As a diligent self-starter, the Tax Analyst will utilize accounting and tax concepts that they learnt from the completion of their accounting degree. While having working experience in a similar environment would be an asset, the team can provide further mentoring and guidance in completing more complex technical tasks.ResponsibilitiesPrepare tax remittance analysis and ensure compliance with current monthly tax payments and payments of outstanding balances of prior taxation yearsPrepare Federal and Provincial tax returns and elections with supporting schedulesReview and monitor incoming tax assessments and re‑assessmentsCalculate the tax cost bases of properties,



investments and other assetsPrepare response to Federal and Provincial income tax audit queriesProvide support and assistance with GST/HST/QST/PST auditsAnalyze tax impact of transactions and assess alternativesPerform special projects and assignments as requiredRequired Skills and ExperienceStrong financial accounting and tax knowledge from post‑secondary educationExcellent Excel and Word skillsWorking knowledge of tax preparation softwareStrong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels within the company as well as with external partiesStrong ability to work independentlyExcellent time management and organizational skillsValuesThe Tax Analyst must be client focused (i.E. advocate and communicate a positive image of the company both internally and externally). The Tax Analyst shall take accountability for decisions made and conduct oneself in a respectful and ethical manner in representing the company’s interests. The Tax Analyst shall demonstrate entrepreneurialism and behave like an “owner” in carrying out daily tasks and responsibilities; demonstrating creativity and resourcefulness in achieving desired results. The Tax Analyst is expected to be a team player and work effectively with colleagues and associates in terms of receiving input, sharing ideas, and working to achieve a common goal.Expected base pay range: $85,000-$95,000. The base pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.
