About the Role

The Company is seeking an AVP, Global Government Affairs and Public Policy for Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for the company's advocacy and regulatory engagement in support of health and group retirement services. This role demands an expert-level understanding of the Canadian political and public policy landscape, particularly in the areas of health and retirement. The AVP will act as a senior advisor to executive leaders, lead the development and implementation of strategic government affairs and public policy plans, and oversee a team responsible for external interactions in this space. A minimum of 10 years' experience in public policy and government affairs,



with a background in the health or financial services sector, is required. The role also necessitates experience in team leadership, a strong knowledge of the regulatory landscape across Canada, and the ability to build coalitions to advocate on relevant issues.

To succeed in this position, candidates must have a proven track record of leadership, the ability to work with large, matrixed organizations, and excellent research, analytical, and communication skills. A bilingual (English/French) proficiency is an asset, and a Master's degree is also beneficial. The role is pivotal in ensuring the company's interests are effectively represented in the political and regulatory arenas, and the ideal candidate will be adept at managing complex assignments, developing and executing strategies, and fostering talent within a energetic work environment.
