OverviewPolar Asset Management Partnersis a global alternative asset manager founded in 1991, with teams across Canada, the U.S., and the U.K., managing strategies across equities, credit, rates, commodities, and niche asset classes.We are seeking aData Scientist to join the Office of the CIO"OCIO", embedded within the investment organization and working directly with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Analysts. This role plays a key part in driving PnL and improving investment decision-making efficiency through quantitative analysis, model development, and strategy implementation.This is a hands-on role for someone looking to build a long-term investing career, with direct exposure to strategy design, execution, and real-world market outcomes.What You’ll DoBuild and implement investment models and signals -Develop quantitative models, factors, and signals that support portfolio construction, risk management, and alpha generation, with direct impact on PnL.Design and run backtests -Evaluate investment ideas and strategies through robust backtesting and scenario analysis to inform live implementation.Support ECM and DCM initiative -Contribute to equity and debt capital markets analysis, including deal evaluation, data curation, and post-issuance performance.Drive OCIO efficiency through analytics -Build scalable tools and workflows that improve how the OCIO evaluates opportunities, manages risk, and allocates capital.Deliver ad-hoc investment analysis -Partner closely with PMs, traders, and analysts to respond to time-sensitive questions and support active decision-making.Who You AreStrong quantitative foundation -Proficient in Python and SQL, with 1-5 years of experience working on models, signals, or analytical tools using financial data.Exposure to backtesting or portfolio analytics -Familiarity with historical simulations, factor analysis,

In accordance with Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, 2000, the estimated base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $155,000.
