Position Summary
This position is located in Windsor, Ontario, at the Windsor manufacturing site. The role is 100% on‑site and involves softgel development and manufacturing for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries.
Reporting to the Department Production Manager, the Lead Production Supervisor will be responsible for efficient manufacturing operations, health and safety, operational excellence, quality and regulatory compliance, customer requirements, and organizational goals. The position includes leading and coaching shift supervisors, hourly employees and staff across supporting departments.
Work Schedule: Shifts: Regular working hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch.
The Role
- Track SQDC metrics; address deviations in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Monitor and maintain an action log to enhance compliance and audit readiness.
- Develop and coordinate departmental classroom training programs and monitor qualifications.
- Lead special projects as defined by the Production Manager.
- Coach and mentor production supervisors, including advising, guiding, and providing timely feedback.
- Provide supervisor coverage for vacation, extended absence, and training.
- Support shift handover meetings and department communication by creating, updating, and maintaining a daily shift meeting agenda.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED/CAEC, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Chemistry, Biology) or related field is preferred.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience in a diverse workforce and continuous improvement culture.
- Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facilities is an asset.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, flexible and able to work in a rapid‑paced team environment.
- Strong technical background and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word).
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and motivate others at all levels.
- Knowledge of automation systems is an asset.
- Leadership experience at Catalent, such as participation in Catalent‑sponsored programs (NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, GROW), may be considered in lieu of external experience.
- For non‑Canadian credentials, a Canadian equivalency evaluation (e.g., WES) is required.
- Manual dexterity for tasks such as handling, keyboard use, and physical tasks may be required; the position involves standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, mandatorily requiring good vision and possible chemical exposure.
Pay
The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary within the range $84,000 - $107,000, dependent on factors such as experience, industry background, skill set, education, and business needs.
