Job Overview

Jardeg is recruiting a Journeyperson Carpenter Lead-Hand to join our Buildings team in New Westminster, BC.

A lead hand carpenter leads a small team on construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.

Responsibilities

- Build forms for concrete
- Cut, shape, and join materials
- Identify and fix deficiencies
- Build hoarding and other temporary structures
- Check accuracy of work and make adjustments as required
- Study blueprints for work planning
- Use various hand tools
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
- Identify abnormalities or defects and take appropriate measures
- Lead and guide a team of construction workers; provide training and mentorship




- Assist with task assignments, coordination activities, and work schedules
- Monitor quality of work; adhere to project specifications and building codes

Qualifications

- Carpenter Journeyperson ticket from a recognized provincial training authority (preferred)
- Non-ticketed carpenters must provide proof of relevant hours in industrial carpentry trade
- Certifications: CSTS & WHMIS
- Buildings/commercial experience an asset
- Experience with concrete formwork required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of safety compliance and regulatory issues
- Reliable transportation to work
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
