Opportunity Reporting to the Manager of Community Engagement Services, the Supervisor, Events and Community Experience is responsible for the supervision of the Community Engagement Services unit, comprising Community and Corporate Events and Cultural Services. The Supervisor oversees a non‑unionized team responsible for the execution of Caledon’s Events Framework, volunteer management, and implementation of cultural initiatives. The Supervisor leads the development and execution of town‑led festivals and events such as Caledon Day, Culture Days, the Town of Caledon’s Sports Hall of Fame, and the Diwali Drone Show, and acts as liaison with local non‑profits, service clubs, and other community organizations hosting community events.The Supervisor will mobilize local resources to ensure collaboration of internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects and strategies that enhance the overall Community Services portfolio in the Town of Caledon. Community projects include public art, placemaking and community engagement initiatives that support making Caledon a more vibrant place to live.The Supervisor is responsible for project management and coordination, engagement with key stakeholders and residents, execution of deliverables outlined in the Recreation and Culture Strategy, and pursuing external funding opportunities. This role is responsible for management of corporate and community‑led events, cultural initiatives, and community‑facing projects within the Community Services team. The Supervisor is responsible for implementing projects that support community engagement, culture, community partnerships, and strategic priorities of Community Services.ResponsibilitiesLead the development, delivery, and evaluation of public events, cultural programs and community initiatives aligned with the Town’s strategic priorities and the Recreation and Culture Strategy.Oversee the planning and execution of signature and seasonal events, including festivals, heritage celebrations, and cultural showcases.Oversee the design, implementation and management of projects that impact community, culture, and public spaces as outlined in Council and corporate workplans (i.E., Recreation and Culture Strategy).Manage project timelines, budgets, risk assessments, and evaluation frameworks to ensure successful outcomes and community impact.Identify gaps in services within Community Services and implement initiatives to expand offerings for residents.Participate in critical planning, advertising initiatives,
and sponsorship development to support the Community Services division.Develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies to promote cultural programs and events.Develop agreements with vendors, negotiate funding, and create community service agreements with partners for projects supporting objectives within the Recreation and Culture strategy.Work collaboratively with residents, other levels of government, contractors, and community agencies on strategic partnerships to deliver objectives of Recreation and Culture strategy.Facilitate partnerships with artists, cultural organizations, and community groups to co‑create programming and build sector capacity.Prepare reports, presentations, and communications for internal and external stakeholders, including Council.Contribute to the development of cultural policies, funding strategies, and long‑term planning documents.Develop, implement, and evaluate a strategic volunteer engagement program for Community Services.Lead the event team in the planning and delivery of community‑focused, town‑led events and facilitate the Caledon Events Advisory Team.Act as a liaison to other Town departments for town‑led, third‑party, and community‑led events.Undertake special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate full‑time and contract staff; provide coaching for improved performance; develop goals andobjectives and conduct annual performance appraisals.Maintain corporate standards of customer service and administrative procedures related to areas of responsibility.Investigate and resolve customer complaints and concerns, ensuring a positive relationship between staff and citizens and managing escalated issues.Develop, implement, and evaluate customer satisfaction measures and identify enhancements to products and services; develop action plans from collected data to maximize growth potential.Liaise and represent the Town of Caledon while working with consultants, suppliers, schools, and the general community.Supervise in‑house and contracted staff assigned to perform work and activities as defined herein.Develop, monitor,
and report on program and event budgets.Ensure cost‑effective use of resources and alignment with financial policies and procedures.Identify and pursue funding opportunities, sponsorships, and grants to support cultural and event initiatives.Respond in real time to problem‑solve and mitigate risk as it relates to events, such as inclement weather, irate customers, OPP inquiries and support, and health and safety considerations.Requires the ability to act quickly and make decisions founded on guidelines, policies, procedures, and safety.Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the departmental and/or corporate Business Continuity Plan.Participate in all mandatory training requirements.Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Town of Caledon policies and procedures, and established industry guidelines.Ideal Candidate We are seeking a passionate professional with a post‑secondary education, training, and/or knowledge in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Community Engagement, Event management, or closely related field. Certifications in change management, municipal administration, community development, event management, project management, quality assurance, leadership, or other related fields are considered an asset.The candidate should have a minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in cultural programming, event planning, or community engagement, preferably in a municipal or non‑profit setting, with a minimum of three (3) years at a supervisory level.
