PROCESSING CENTER ADVISOR (Assessor/Representative) – Calgary

Rate (CAD): Up to $39.00 per hour / Commensurate with related experience and market competitiveness
Term: 7 months to ) with 18-month extension available (up to 25-month contract)
Hours per day: 7.25
Security Screening: Level 2 Enhanced Security Screening (This screening includes a Criminal Record Check and a Financial Management Risk Indicator Screening (FMRIS). Background check required.)
PROJECT OVERVIEW / DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
We are seeking detail-oriented, client-focused professionals to join our team as Child Care Assessors/Representative. In this role, you will support Alberta families, childcare providers, and stakeholders through the delivery of the Child Care Subsidy Program, Child Care Family Portal and Canada-Alberta Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care initiatives.
WORK MODEL
The successful contractor(s) will work a hybrid work model. Days in the office could be a maximum of 5 days a week. Available to candidates in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta. Candidates must reside within one (1) hour of a designated office location to support operational requirements and potential in-office attendance. The three work locations include: Forestry Building at 9920 – 108 Street NW, Edmonton, AB; J.G. O’Donoghue (JGO) Building at Street NW, Edmonton, AB; and 1240 Kensington Road NW, Calgary, AB. Applicants must be authorized to work in Canada to apply (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident). Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 with a 1 hour lunch break Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, assess, and process applications, renewals, and amendments in accordance with program policies and guidelines.
- Determine client eligibility by reviewing financial and supporting documentation.
- Respond to phone, email, and online inquiries from parents, guardians, childcare providers, and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on program requirements and assist clients in navigating online services and processes.
- Investigate and resolve application, payment, eligibility, and system-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with privacy, security, and information management requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to support effective program delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, testing, training, and operational projects.
What You Bring
- Experience in customer service, program administration, advantages administration, case management, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures, and program guidelines.
- Experience assessing information and making decisions with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to build positive relationships and provide empathetic, client-focused service.
Assets
- Experience with government programs, eligibility assessment, or social benefits administration.
- Experience supporting clients through complex or sensitive situations.
- Experience using multiple systems and databases simultaneously while delivering customer service.
MANDATORY SKILLS
- High School Diploma/GED. (Yes or No)
- Experience in Customer Service and/or Retail sales experience. (3 years+)
- Experience researching existing documentation to determine a resolution. (2 years+)
- Experience working in a fast-paced role, to problem solve/troubleshoot, while working independently and in a team environments. (3 years+)
- Hands on experience working in a complex environment requiring prioritization of tasks and deliverables. (3 years+)
DESIRABLE / NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Relevant post-secondary education in the area of office administration. Acceptable education includes degrees, diplomas and certificates. (Yes or No)
- Experience navigating between multiple operating/computer system, to validate/assess applications eligibility. (3 years+)
- Experience working in a call center environment responding to inquires over the phone or by email and tracking detailed notes on the request in a call tracking system. (2 years+)
- Experience working in a role that required strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. (3 years+)
- Relevant experience in a role similar to this. Experience must be applicable to this role. (4 years+)
