Full TimeIntermediate Geotechnical Engineer ) Thurber has an exciting opportunity for anIntermediate Geotechnical Engineerto join our team inPrince George, British Columbia .Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment and construction materials. We solve problems in a wide variety of industries including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, dams and water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine and environmental services.As our Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer, you will work on varied projects and develop your skills with guidance and mentorship from our senior team.ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support and leadership on projects and for staff, including conducting technical reviews of calculations and analyses, as well as performing technical analyses where appropriate; Provide guidance, and where necessary, support in coordination, preparation of cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client reports, progress reports, project scheduling and resourcing, and meeting deadlines and budgets on projects; Scoping projects and assisting in the preparation of proposals; Support mentoring,coaching, and training of staff; Help promote Thurber values amongst staff; Establishing, developing, promoting and maintaining relationships with clients; Active participation in the field on a project specific basis as dictated by the needs of the project to meet client expectations and project objectives; Manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams; and,Travel toproject locations, as well as to Client offices and other Thurber Branch offices.Qualifications and AssetsCompletion of a post-secondary program in Civil or Geological Engineering, Engineering Geology,
or Geoscience; 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the Geotechnical Engineering with strong understanding of local geology; Valid Class 5 Drivers license; Comfortable driving mid to full-sized pickup trucks in urban, rural, and construction environments; Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including local and remote construction sites; Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required; and,Membership with EGBC.Other Desirable AttributesGraduate Degree (Masters or higher); General understanding of Western Canadian geomorphology and associated landforms, processes, and hazards; Able to conduct desktop and field level terrain assessments; Experienced inthe interpretation and utilization of aerial photographs, as well as satellite and LiDAR imagery in the assessment of terrain and geohazards; Experienced inthe use of commercial analytical software packages in the assessment of slope stability; Pipeline routing and trenchless crossing assessments; Familiar with geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring of geohazards; Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; Strong computer skills (i.E. spreadsheet and word-processing); and,Ability to work independently and cooperate with a team in various environment.Base Salary Range$110,000 - $128,000 per year, based on a 40-hour work week.The posted wage range for this position represents the range for the experience and qualifications noted in this posting.The offered wage may be adjusted upward for candidates whose qualifications and experience exceed those expressed in this posting.Candidates with less experience and qualifications may be considered at a reduced starting wage.What we offerOur flat organizational structure allows easy access to senior professionals, corporate leaders, and subject matter experts across the company for mentorship and feedback.Our culture is respectful, cooperative, inclusive, and fun.We offer financial support towards professional development.We provide health and dental coverage, a healthcare spending
