Join the City of Victoria’s Cybersecurity team and work closely with staff across the IT Department to help protect City systems and information. The Cybersecurity team supports City staff by providing training, sharing security best practices, and helping the organization respond to cyber risks. The team also researches new security tools and stays up to date on emerging threats by connecting with industry experts and professional networks.Compensation: $32.89 per hour, Pay Grade 2 plus 15% in lieu of benefits. Auxiliary status employees will be paid an additional 15% in lieu of vacation, holiday, sick leave beyond the statutory requirement, and other benefits, per the CUPE Local 50 Collective Agreement.Work schedule: Monday to Friday (35 hour work week) – Temporary – up to 8 months. Number of Vacancies: 1.Key ResponsibilitiesHelping review the City’s current cybersecurity postureUsing cloud‑based security tools to help gather information about servers, workstations, and systemsAssisting with reports that identify security risks and recommend improvementsSupporting the development of implementation plans and working with the Manager to help carry out security enhancementsKey DutiesCollaborate closely and actively participate in feedback sessions with a supervisor to contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization’s operations.Utilize tools and software platforms under the direct guidance of your supervisor.Participate actively in the development and enhancement of projects aligned with the department’s strategic goals.Provide valuable field and/or office support to support the successful execution of assigned projects.Collaborate with team members to facilitate shared learning and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of creative solutions. Maintain detailed records of your work process, including any challenges encountered and problem‑solving approaches employed.Collaborate with colleagues from different departments or teams on cross‑functional projects to gain a broader perspective and develop a well‑rounded skill set supporting your knowledge and success in a municipal career.Attend and actively participate in educational activities that enhance your knowledge and skills, aligning with IMPACT program objectives and the department’s needs.IndependenceWork is assigned by supervisor and reviewed upon completion.Problems are referred to supervisor.Working Conditions Physical Effort Sit with arms unsupported while keyboarding.
