DescriptionThe Disability Manager is responsible for managing the organization's disability programs, including short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), workplace accommodations, and return-to-work initiatives. This role ensures compliance with applicable legislation, promotes employee well-being, and supports a culture of inclusion by providing expert guidance on disability management practices.What can you expect in this role? Disability Program Management:Design, implement, and maintain a best-practice work disability management programOversight of all Short and Long Term Disability claims, ensuring efficiency and timely administration of the medical absence programCoordinate workplace accommodations in compliance with relevant legislationDevelop and maintain policies and procedures related to disability, accommodation and return to work programs that align with provincial requirementsAct as a resource for employees and managers regarding disability-related issues and return-to-work plansPartner with other members of the Total Rewards team in advantages, health & safety and wellness to build a healthier, more resilient workplace through pro-active programming and educationStakeholder Collaboration:Partner with other HR functions (HR Shared Services,
HR Business Partners, Payroll, etc.) company leaders and external providers (Third Party Adjudicators; Accommodation Specialists) to facilitate effective case managementProvide training and guidance/best practices to leaders regarding disability and accommodation best practicesCompliance & Reporting:Ensure adherence to legal requirements across all provinces and organizational policiesPrepare reports and metrics on disability gaps/trends, costs, and program effectivenessContinuous Improvement:Identify opportunities to enhance disability management programs and employee experienceStay current on legislative changes and industry best practices across CanadaWhat do you bring to the role? Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health, or related fieldMinimum 10 years of experience in disability management, case management, or related HR functionStrong knowledge of Canadian disability legislation, including provincial human rights codes and employment standardsExcellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skillsAbility to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentialitySalary Range: $106,500 - $156,500
