To help achieve the City of Surrey’s Vision Zero Safe Mobility Strategy, we are hiring an experienced Engineering Project Coordinator who will play an important role within our Traffic and Road Safety Engineering Section.Reporting to the Road Safety Engineer, this senior-level position performs complex technical work in researching, analysing and recommending solutions to maintain and improve road safety throughout the City. Surrey has a population of more than 725,000 and continues to grow by approximately 1000 people per month, leading to a rewarding and challenging transportation career with opportunities for growth within the Transportation Division.RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyze and interpret collision data to help shape data-driven decisions for road safety improvements, including helping to identify countermeasures and prioritise projectsPerform field inspections, undertake technical assessments, and make recommendations related to signage and pavement marking installation, sightlines, road safety, and traffic operations,



in partnership with other City staffCorrespond and interact directly with residents regarding road safety-related inquiries or concernsSupport the design review process of external Consultants’ capital and land development projects from a road safety perspectiveProvide support for steering and advisory committees on best practices for road safety and traffic operations and attend and speak at public meetingsProvide mentorship to junior-level Technologists and Co-op StudentsSupport or lead projects such as managing and implementing a City-wide speed limit reviewPerform other job-related duties.QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of a minimum 2-year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution.Five years of engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical expertise related to road safety and traffic engineering, and supervisory experience in relevant areas of civil engineering and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.A valid and unrestricted driver’s license.The successful incumbent will have:In-depth knowledge and expertise of best practices in road safety and a keen interest in all aspects of urban multi-modal transportation.Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to respond effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups including the public, internal staff, and external agencies.A robust customer-service mindset.The ability to work in a collaborative and high-performing environment while juggling multiple priorities and projects.The ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions.Familiarity with ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro and proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an asset.OTHER INFORMATION Pay Grade: 27Hourly Rate: $ Rates)Pay Steps Hourly Rates Step 1 $50.90 Step 2 (6 months) $53.04 Step 3 (18 months) $55.19 Step 4 (30 months) $57.67#J-18808-Ljbffr
