Location: Central Commons, 800-1000 7 Ave SWFull Time Regular: 37.5 hours per week | Salary: $59,999 - $77,000About the RoleAs part of Carya’s Counselling Services team, this role provides client-directed counselling to children, youth, caregivers, and families, grounded in their community context. Counsellors also contribute to community engagement and development in alignment with Carya’s mission. This position focuses on family systems interventions using the Functional Family Therapy (FFT and FFT-CW) model. It requires flexibility, comfort working in community settings, and a commitment to evidence-based practice. The role involves close collaboration with community partners, including Family Resource Networks (FRNs), to support coordinated, relationship-focused service delivery. Carya provides comprehensive training in Functional Family Therapy. The successful candidate is required to commit to a two-year term.Who You AreYou are empathetic and engaging, naturally building trust with children and families while creating a safe space for growth and connection.You believe in the power of relationships and are motivated to help families strengthen bonds, build skills, and create lasting change.You are collaborative and committed to learning, working closely with others and continuously developing your practice to better support families.What You Will DoCounselling and Therapeutic SupportWork directly with families and children (0–18) in their homes, in the community, virtually, and onsite at Carya.Use the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model to strengthen relationships, build skills, and support meaningful, lasting change.Create a safe, respectful, and engaging space for families, using trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.Case Management and Ethical PracticeWork closely with colleagues and community partners to provide coordinated, family-centered support.Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and learning as part of developing your clinical practice and FFT skills.Stay informed on best practices and emerging approaches in family counselling.Build relationships within the community to support access, connection, and long-term impact for families.What You BringA master’s degree (MSW, MA, M.Ed., MSc, MC) in psychology,



social work or related discipline.Membership in good standing with relevant regulatory body.Alberta Family Wellness Initiative’s Core Brain Story.Training or experience in family systems, developmental, or group-dynamic approaches, with experience working with children, youth, and families in a counselling setting.Experience or training in attachment-based approaches is an asset.Skillful use of therapeutic modalities and clinical supervision, as well as the ability to collaborate with other professionals to enhance natural and professional supports is essential.Solid attention to detail with the ability to act with discretion and confidentiality is expected.Effective presentation and facilitation skills, along with effective communication and interpersonal skills.A positive attitude, coupled with the ability to balance a dedication to quality service is essential.Exceptional team orientation and collaboration skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Completion of Natural Supports Framework is an asset.Proficiency in Microsoft 365 with a focus on SharePoint, Word, Teams, and Outlook.Proficiency, or at the very least, familiarity with case management software, such as Jane.Ability to effectively manage and prioritize your emails and calendar.Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance are required.Why Join Team CaryaBe part of a community of over 100 passionate professionals who live our values of Respect, Kindness, Creativity, Collaboration, Belonging, and Wellness.
