We are recruiting for a Safety Advisor III to support a major capital project at the Nanticoke Refinery. This role is ideal for a hands‑on safety professional who enjoys being in the field, interacting with contractors, coaching workers, and driving a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide field-based safety support throughout construction and commissioning activities.
- Build strong working relationships with contractors, supervisors, and project teams.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
- Coach and mentor personnel on protected work practices and company safety requirements.
- Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Review and maintain compliance with company, regulatory, and industry safety standards.
- Participate in the development and delivery of safety training, presentations, and awareness initiatives.
- Assist with the development and improvement of safety procedures and programs.
- Promote a proactive, positive safety culture across the project team.
Qualifications
- Experience in construction safety, industrial safety, or related health and safety roles.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety practices and regulations.
- Experience working with contractors in field environments.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship‑building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast‑paced project setting.
Preferred Experience
- Approximately 10 years of health and safety experience (flexibility available for robust candidates).
- Heavy industrial, refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas, energy, manufacturing, or large construction project experience.
- Experience supporting projects during construction and commissioning phases.
- Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Majority of time spent in the field.
- Regular interaction with contractors and project personnel.
- Active industrial construction environment.
- Local candidates are preferred.
