Job Overview

The Lab Technician will perform microsection of PCBs and evaluate plated-through-hole quality of in-process and finished products per customer specifications. The Technician must perform lab analysis using burettes, pipettes, pH/ion meters, atomic absorption spectrophotometers, laboratory balances, hydrometers, hull cells, CVS, and all other relevant laboratory equipment. The Technician will perform all special tests for reporting to Plating Managers and Process Engineers, be exposed to hazardous waste while performing daily duties, and undergo chemical handling training prior to and during employment.

Shift

Midnight shift (11:00 pm – 7:15 am), Wednesday to Sunday.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Read and interpret customer print requirements.
- Evaluate dielectric thickness, plasma etchback, copper plating thickness, and trace widths.
- Set up, grind, and polish sections.
- Use metallurgical microscope.
- Read, record, analyze, and report all data accurately.
- Perform all lab analyses and special tests of chemicals used in the wet process areas.




- Accurately report chemical analyses and tests to Plating Managers and Process Engineers.
- Manage all chemical additions and bath make‑ups.
- Complete all internal departmental documentation accurately and maintain production logs and test reports.
- Keep accurate up-to-date records regarding current baths on the production floor.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on most lab equipment, chemical controllers, pumps, and other lab-related equipment.
- Interact with vendors and visitors.
- Perform lab inventory and identify chemicals and equipment needed to order.
- Conduct ionic contamination tests.
- Sort and label micro-section coupons as required.
- Conduct solderability tests and thermal stress tests.
- Maintain production logs and test reports.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as required for the role.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures.
- Ability to work independently and maintain accept/reject disposition.
- Ability to follow documented procedures.

Education and Experience

- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.




- Experience with PWB acceptability standards, IPC and MIL‑P‑5510 specifications preferred.
- Laboratory experience preferred but not mandatory.

The expected base annual compensation range, in CAD, for this position is $47,810—$75,571.
