The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) is looking for an Assistant Conductor/Sistema Music Director to join their team for a two-year term, with the possibility of extension. This role is designed for a promising conductor and includes conducting duties, community outreach, and serving as the Music Director for Sistema Winnipeg. The successful candidate will work closely with the WSO's Music Director and musicians, gaining valuable mentorship and experience.Key responsibilities include rehearsing and conducting the WSO for various educational and community programs, preparing scores, attending rehearsals, and assisting in repertoire selection. The Assistant Conductor will also represent the WSO and Sistema Winnipeg through media and public relations efforts.



Candidates should have experience conducting skilled orchestras and working with youth in educational settings, along with strong communication skills and an advanced degree in conducting or equivalent experience.Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and should reside in Winnipeg during the term. The position offers a salary of CAD 55,000 annually, along with benefits such as vacation and a comprehensive group benefit plan after three months of employment.
