Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the Vancouver Pediatric Team (VPT) working out of the Pacific Spirit Community Health Centre in Vancouver, BC. This position will be primarily based in Vancouver, and may also support other VCH communities (Richmond and North Shore) as needed.
Ideal candidates are experienced physiotherapists interested in the pediatric field, or new graduates keen to work with children and youth. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team (OTs, PTs, RAs, nurses) to support school‑aged children and youth.
Responsibilities
Provide physiotherapy services to children 0–19 years with physical, neurological and developmental challenges, including episodic or palliative care.
Coordinate care plans for children with complex health needs and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational agencies and other health care professionals to achieve excellence in health services and education.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Current full registration as a Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Two (2) years’ recent related clinical experience with the designated client population, including care management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business‑related purposes.
Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge in assessment of neurological, physical and developmental problems and understanding of equipment use.
Knowledge of CHCPBC standards of practice and guidelines for physiotherapy.
Ability to assess and provide interventions for children with complex health issues.
Trauma‑informed practice and harm‑reduction approaches; strengths‑based care.
Ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
Commitment to a family‑directed service philosophy.
Risk‑management and ethical decision‑making in complex family and health situations.
Knowledge of care management theory and multicultural health care practice.
Understanding of adult learning principles and group dynamics.
Facilitation, mediation and conflict‑resolution skills.
Knowledge of standardized and informal pediatric assessments.
Teaching and training abilities; delivery of in‑service education to lay and professional groups.
Prescription of rehabilitation equipment.
Preparation and maintenance of charts, records and reports; ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Independent planning, organizing and prioritization of workload.
Team‑based approach to program delivery.
CPR proficiency.
Use of relevant equipment and software applications.
Physical capability to perform job duties.
