Manager, Pension & BenefitsLocation: Sudbury, ON (On-site 4 days/week, 1 day remote) Employment Type: Full-TimeOverviewWe’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Manager, Pension & Benefits to lead the delivery, administration, and continuous improvement of pension and benefits programs within a complex, unionized environment.This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of operations and transformation—balancing day-to-day plan administration with opportunities to modernize processes, enhance vendor partnerships, and introduce automation into traditionally manual workflows.What You’ll Be Accountable ForOwn end-to-end administration of pension and benefits programs, including renewals and reportingManage vendor relationships (e.G., benefits and pension administrators) to ensure service excellence and complianceAct as the internal subject matter expert on defined benefit (DB) pension plansOversee and support a Pension & Benefits Analyst (with potential team growth)Navigate and interpret collective agreements as they relate to pensions and benefitsEnsure regulatory compliance across all programsIdentify opportunities to digitize and streamline paper-based processes, driving operational efficiencyPartner cross-functionally with HR leadership to align programs with broader people strategyWhat You BringMust-Haves:Bilingual in French and English (highly required)3–5+ years of experience in pension and benefits, with a solid focus on defined benefit (DB) plansExperience within a unionized environmentBackground in one of the following sectors:



public sector, education, healthcare, government, banking, policing, or OPSNice-to-Haves:Pension-related certification (e.G., CEB or equivalent)Experience working with external administrators and consultantsExposure to process improvement, systems implementation, or HR transformation initiativesWork Environment & CultureBusiness casual, collaborative environmentStrong emphasis on work-life balance with a 33.75-hour work weekOpportunity to influence modernization in a legacy process environmentCompensation & BenefitsSalary: $90,000 (flexibility up to $95,000 for the right candidate)Annual cost-of-living increase + 3% step progression4+ weeks vacation, increasing annually (up to 35 days)University closure during the holiday season (in addition to vacation)All statutory holidays + additional summer day offComprehensive benefits plan (no co-pay)Defined benefit pension planFree tuition for employees and eligible dependents (spouse and children up to age 26)Relocation support up to $5,000 (repayment agreement applies)ScheduleSeptember 1 – April 30: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (45-minute unpaid lunch)May 1 – August 31: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (45-minute unpaid lunch)Why This RoleThis is a high-impact opportunity to step into a stable, well-supported environment while driving meaningful improvements in how pension and benefits programs are delivered.
