The University of Toronto invites applications for a tenure-stream Assistant Professor in African and/or Caribbean Francophone Literature, starting July 1, 2027. This position seeks individuals with excellence in teaching and research. Candidates must possess a PhD in Francophone Literature or related fields such as Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Gender Studies, or Digital Humanities.
A robust record in research and teaching French language courses is essential. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds to enrich our academic community. Key Responsibilities:
Conduct cutting-edge, independent research
Establish a competitive, externally funded research program
Teach and supervise graduate students
Collaborate with African, Caribbean, and Diaspora Studies Centers
Participate in departmental service activities Requirements:

Commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry
Native or near-native French fluency; solid English command
