We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with a variety of clients and wants to continue developing their accounting skills in public practice.
Responsibilities
Perform bookkeeping services for a variety of business clients.
Prepare year-end financial statements for owner-managed businesses.
Prepare and maintain working paper files.
Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and other balance sheet accounts.
Prepare GST/HST returns and other government filings.
Assist with personal and corporate tax return preparation.
Communicate directly with clients to obtain information and answer questions.
Assist managers and partners with accounting and assurance engagements as required.
Identify opportunities to improve client processes and provide value-added service.
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
Experience with bookkeeping and financial statement preparation.
Experience using QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, or similar accounting software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Public accounting experience is considered an asset but is not required.
