About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to join the CarbonFree Group. We’re looking for a person who is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and energized by building strong financial foundations in a growing, complex environment. This is a role for someone who goes beyond and thinks critically, anticipates challenges, and takes ownership of outcomes.

You’ll play a key role in overseeing core accounting and office operations, financial controls, and reporting processes that support a rapidly growing business. From scaling financial infrastructure and improving processes to partnering closely with leadership on planning and decision‑making, you’ll have meaningful influence across the organization. This is a place for doers who roll up their sleeves, adapt quickly, and take pride in creating clarity, rigor, and trust through their work.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations

Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models

Implement and maintain internal controls

Manage GST/HST/QST filings and intercompany accruals, invoices, and netting.





Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to leadership

Oversee daily office operations to ensure efficiency and productivity

Manage office supplies, equipment, vendors, and service contracts

Coordinate facilities management, including maintenance and lease agreements

Administer employee onboarding paperwork and HR documentation in collaboration with HR or leadership

Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required

CPA or CMA preferred

5+ years of progressive accounting experience

Experience in small-to-mid‑sized organizations highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of accounting standards

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)

Advanced Excel skills

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills

High level of integrity and attention to detail

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
