Position Overview

Join our dedicated team as an Autism Support Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In this role, you will provide compassionate, individualized support to help children navigate daily routines, develop essential skills, and build confidence in a structured setting. Because the children we support can sometimes display aggressive behaviors when overwhelmed, maintaining a calm, patient, and grounded demeanor under pressure is essential.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Accompany children to school, classroom, and community/program activities, ensuring a protected, structured, and inclusive environment.
Follow individualized behavior plans and support strategies tailored to each child's specific needs.
Apply Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) techniques to recognize triggers, de-escalate crisis situations, and safely manage aggressive behaviors.
Maintain a soothing, structured, and predictable environment to promote emotional regulation and trust.
Assist children with daily living activities, self-care routines, social interactions, and skill-building exercises.
Utilize effective teaching techniques,

including visual schedules and structured routines, to foster engagement.
Collaborate with families, therapists, and team members to track progress and adjust support strategies.
Accurately document daily observations, behavioral progress, and crisis incidents for ongoing assessment.

Qualifications & Experience
Certification: Valid certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is required.
Experience: Prior experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delays, or challenging behaviors in educational, residential, or community settings.
Key Demeanor: Exceptional patience, solid emotional regulation, and a naturally calm, caring presence in high-stress situations.
Knowledge: Familiarity with special education strategies, basic behavioral interventions, and positive behavior support.
Clearances: Successful completion of a child abuse, adult abuse and criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check.

Wage to be dependent on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $18.00-$24.00 per hour
