Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Labourer to support our horticultural operations. This role involves the harvesting, planting, disbudding, and sticking of cut flowers, specifically chrysanthemums. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and horticulture, along with the physical ability to perform demanding tasks. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in greenhouse operations and plant cultivation. Starting is $18.25/hour for no experience up to $25/hour based on experience/skills.
Responsibilities
Support planting, transplanting, and pruning activities within the greenhouse
Operate hand tools and mechanical equipment for plant maintenance and setup
Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests or disease for appropriate action
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the greenhouse workspace
Assist with loading and unloading supplies, soil,
and plants as needed
Skills
Experience with hand tools such as pruners, trowels, and shovels
Basic math skills for counting production and keeping track of varieties
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds or more)
Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, and perform manual tasks throughout the day
