We are currently seeking a Network Engineer to join one of our clients in the financial sector, a major international bank based in Montreal.
Role Overview: You will be part of a global infrastructure team responsible for supporting and evolving the client’s enterprise network. This role combines Level 2/3 operational support with involvement in global transformation projects, including the deployment of new datacenter networking solutions and automation initiatives. Working in an Agile environment, you will collaborate closely with local and international teams to ensure the stability, scalability, and security of network operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Level 2/3 operational support for network infrastructure in the AMER region
Monitor and troubleshoot network incidents during business hours, with participation in on-call rotations (overnight and weekend coverage approximately once per month)
Lead or contribute to infrastructure projects such as the implementation of recent datacenter networking technologies and campus solutions
Manage and prioritize daily requests, incidents, problems, and changes, including peer reviews and off-hours change delivery
Support incident detection, escalation, communication, and resolution, ensuring minimal business disruption
Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and operational standards
Participate in network automation and scripting initiatives to reduce manual workloads
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills
5+ years of hands‑on experience in data networking and/or network security operations
Strong knowledge of Cisco Catalyst (9k/6k/4k/3k), Nexus (9k/7k/5k/3k/2k), STP, HSRP, VDC, VPC, VLAN, LACP, OTV
Experience with routing platforms (ISR/ASR), protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, Multicast), and telecom technologies such as DWDM
Solid understanding of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management
Experience with firewalls (Fortinet, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA), NAC, WiFi, and network monitoring tools (Nagios/Shinken, Corvil probes)
Familiarity with Cisco ACI or willingness to learn
Scripting skills in Python/Ansible, and experience with GitHub for version control
Exposure to network automation initiatives and matrix switch technologies (Gigamon, Arista)
Professional Experience
Proven experience supporting enterprise‑scale network environments in a complex and regulated industry
Hands‑on experience delivering both operational support and project‑based initiatives
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative work environments
Additional skills
Analytical and detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities
Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across regions
Flexibility to work in a follow‑the‑sun operational model with global colleagues
Hybrid model: 3 days per week on‑site in Montreal
Candidate must be based in Montreal or willing to relocate
Interview must be held on‑site in the client’s office
Languages: Fluency in French required, English professional efficiency
