Job Summary
A casual physiotherapist provides clinical physiotherapy treatment, plans and monitors therapy for patients/residents, delegates treatment to assistants/aides, educates patients and staff on body mechanics, maintains records, participates in service development and interdisciplinary professional development.
Responsibilities
Provides clinical physiotherapy treatment, including assessment, problem identification, goal setting, treatment and re‑evaluation of patients/residents and community patients.
Delegates components of treatment to assistants/aides and provides input for performance evaluation of the assistants/aides.
Promotes awareness of good body mechanics to facility staff, patients/residents and families by modeling, presenting and answering questions related to physiotherapy.
Maintains patient/resident records, clinical outcome measures and statistical data in accordance with department, facility, and skilled standards.
Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of the physiotherapy service by providing input and feedback to the Professional Practice Chief, Physiotherapy regarding philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement, and risk management.
Participates in interdisciplinary, departmental and professional development to ensure awareness of current developments of evidence‑based physiotherapy practice.
Provides instruction,
feedback, and supervision to students as required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Graduate of a recognized program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and eligible for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC).
Knowledge of evidence‑based clinical practice related to designated clinical area.
Demonstrated ability to assess and treat diversity of conditions commonly seen in the relevant area of practice.
Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, communicate effectively, work independently and collaborate, provide effective consultation, establish workload priorities, recognize when referral is required, and handle conflict situations.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position and skill in the use of equipment and appropriate physical therapy techniques.
Basic computer literacy.
Demonstrated knowledge of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC standards for practice of physical therapy.

Competitive salary CAD $42.56 – $52.95 /hour; four weeks vacation to start, comprehensive health benefits, and pension plan.
