Hours of Work

Equivalent to 6 hours per day student days.

Duties

In addition to those duties outlined in the job description, duties include supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs. The successful applicant may be required to perform the following:

- Lifting - Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without a lift and up to 120 pounds with a 2 man lift or mechanical lift.
- Transport students (personal vehicle may be required to transport).
- Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required.
- Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher.
- Focus on successfully transitioning the student to be able to work with other students and adults.
- Focus on behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required.
- Supervision of intensive need student(s) as well as small groups of students as required.

Qualifications

- Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible.




- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software.
- An educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets.
- Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division.

Salary & Benefits

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIU-West Collective Agreement as listed on our website. The starting wage for this position is currently $21.93/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
