Our client, based in Nisku Alberta is a well-established and growing company that supports the oilfield services sector across Alberta. With a strong leadership team, a practical hands‑on culture, and continued momentum in the business, this is an excellent opportunity for a Financial Controller who wants to be close to operations and play an important role in supporting the company’s next stage of growth.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead and oversee the accounting function, strengthen financial reporting, support strategic decision‑making, and help ensure the business continues to operate with strong financial discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate high‑level financial functions, including financial reporting, tax planning, asset management, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning.

Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts, providing explicit reporting, analysis, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Oversee all accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring financial obligations are met accurately and on time.

Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk while supporting the ongoing needs of a growing operational business.

Lead, mentor, and support the accounting team, creating structure, accountability, and opportunities for professional growth.

Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide practical recommendations to support business decisions.

Continuously improve accounting processes, internal controls, reporting practices,



and financial systems to increase accuracy and efficiency.

Take on additional responsibilities as required in a fast‑paced and evolving business environment.

What We’re Looking For

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

3 to 5 years of experience in a similar accounting or financial leadership role.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, tax, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

Experience in oilfield services, transportation, industrial services, or a related operational environment would be considered a strong asset.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with ownership, leadership, operations, vendors, and accounting staff.

A hands‑on leadership style with the ability to balance detailed accounting work with broader business priorities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks.
