Job Description
The Clinical Care Program is currently seeking a full‑time, permanent Occupational Therapist to work in the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 6 (PRT 6). Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will be part of an interprofessional team and work toward enabling patients, through assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, to motivate and engage them in structured activities and programming before reintegration into the community. Using evidence‑based intervention, clients receive specialized psychiatric and discipline‑specific assessment and intensive care guided by Cognitive Adaptation Training principles.
Responsibilities
Provide client‑centered care and ensure compliance with COTO standards of Occupational Therapy.
Conduct functional mobility and other assessments related to Occupational Therapy practice.
Formulate treatment plans, monitor therapeutic response, and supervise Occupational Therapy students.
Deliver a range of rehabilitation services, including initial assessments of skills, rehabilitation readiness, and mental status; facilitate therapeutic and psycho‑educational groups; provide individual counselling to support rehabilitation goals.
Work with clients from diverse populations, contribute to program development, provide educational support, and participate in program research activities.
Support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with regulatory and legislative requirements.
Qualifications
Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or Bachelor’s in OT plus Master’s in OT, Rehab Sciences, or related field) and a minimum of three years’ experience working with individuals who have a serious mental illness.
Membership in either the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapy and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy and holder of COTO’s pre‑requisite Skilled Liability Insurance.
Eligibility for adjunct/status‑only appointments with university faculties affiliated with Occupational Therapy at CAMH.
Strong group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration within inter‑professional teams and engagement with clients, families and community care providers.
Ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds; bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language considered an asset.
Salary Range
$40.77 – $52.98 per hour
