Huckleberry Midwives is an Indigenous led midwifery team offering culturally relevant full spectrum urban Indigenous midwifery care on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) known as Vancouver.
Over the last few years we have built a team of Indigenous and non‑Indigenous/Setter midwives. Our work is always Indigenous led, informed, and guided and we hope to expand our team.
Position We are looking for a Registered Midwife to cover a parental leave for 1 year, with longer term potential. The schedule offers a mix of shorter call stretches (24‑48 hours) and includes 3 clinic days a week, typically 9‑4 pm. Team meetings occur monthly for case reviews and planning.
Clinical Privileges Our privileges are held at BC Women’s Hospital (Level 1) with specialized recognition for our role in the Urban Indigenous Midwifery Outreach Program (UIMOP) which includes additional out‑of‑catchment exceptions.
Collaborations The team is active in the anti‑racist working committee (ARC) and collaborates with the Indigenous Health Department, including elders and patient navigators.
