Position OverviewThe Marketing and Communications Manager will lead and oversee MusicNL’s efforts in promoting, marketing and communicating the organization’s mission, events, resources, programs and initiatives. The position is responsible for ensuring effective, results‑oriented promotion, marketing, communications and community outreach for MusicNL’s programs, resources, events and initiatives. The role requires excellent organizational skills, strong writing abilities and agility with digital tools, adept communication, digital copywriting and project management abilities to elevate MusicNL’s presence and impact.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning and ExecutionDevelop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to promote MusicNL’s programs, events, initiatives and brand.Create and manage annual marketing plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.Content Creation and ManagementOversee and create compelling content for various platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases, including copywriting and design.Ensure all content aligns with MusicNL’s brand voice and messaging.Proofread and edit communications collateral as needed.Media RelationsBuild and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and government communications managers.Prepare press materials and coordinate media coverage for events and announcements.Event PromotionDevelop and execute marketing campaigns for MusicNL events, including programs, workshops, and conferences.Collaborate with other staff to ensure successful promotion and engagement.Digital MarketingManage and optimize MusicNL’s digital presence, including website, social media channels, and email marketing, writing relevant and engaging copy.Utilize analytics to track performance and adjust strategies as needed.Membership & Community EngagementLead membership relations, answer general inquiries.Foster relationships with local artists, industry professionals,
and community stakeholders.Organize and participate in community outreach activities to promote MusicNL’s mission and initiatives.Brand ManagementMaintain and enhance MusicNL’s brand identity and ensure consistency across all communications and marketing materials.Monitor industry trends and adapt strategies to stay relevant and effective.Special ProjectsProvide additional project support as required due to the evolving nature of MusicNL’s planning cycle.Position RequirementsAn engaged creative and an exceptional communicator (written and spoken).An adaptable, goal‑oriented planner and project manager.A creative problem solver who embraces change, particularly in a fast‑paced event environment.An explorer of new trends in community engagement.Passionate about music, with a desire to engage the community on a province‑wide basis.Sensitive to socially inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible language.QualificationsPost‑secondary education in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or a comparable demonstrable professional experience.A minimum of three years of professional experience, with at least one year in a marketing and communications capacity.Previous professional experience in the arts sector and lived knowledge of the music industry are strong assets.SkillsDemonstrable experience managing human and financial resources.Robust project management skills.Experience with Google Analytics, SEO, digital layout tools (e.G., Canva) and social media platforms.Proficiency with email marketing (e.G., Mailchimp), email automation,
